Catalonia accounts for 45% of bank robberies in Spain
In 2025, the region of Catalonia accounted for 45% of all bank robberies involving violence or intimidation recorded in Spain. According to data from the Ministry of the Interior, Catalonia recorded 65 of the 143 total cases nationwide.
This figure is significantly higher than other regions. Catalonia's 65 cases surpassed the combined totals of Andalusia, Madrid, and the Valencian Community, which recorded 51 cases together. Collectively, Catalonia, Andalusia, and Madrid accounted for over 74% of the country's total bank robberies.
