Catalonia advances two major industrial park developments

Construction has begun on the Domenys III industrial park near Vilafranca del Penedès. The 40‑hectare site will host industrial, commercial and service facilities, incorporate extensive green spaces and a dedicated drainage system that feeds rainwater directly into a local aquifer. Mayor Francisco Romero expects the project to create about 800 direct jobs and another 400 indirect positions, helping the Alt Penedès area beat the Catalan unemployment average. The initiative, delayed for two decades, secured its electricity supply through a technical solution with Endesa.

Meanwhile, the municipality of Móra d’Ebre and the Catalan Land Institute (INCASÒL) are preparing the third phase of the La Verdeguera industrial polygon. Funded with €6.5 million from the Nuclear Transition Fund, the expansion will add 16 hectares of industrial land, targeting a 40 % occupancy rate and drawing on the town’s proximity to the C‑12, N‑420 and nearby rail links. Mayor Rubén Biarnés highlighted the need to negotiate remaining land parcels to advance the project and stimulate local agro‑food, logistics and technology sectors.
