Catalonia allocates 6.9 million euros for disability support products

The Department of Social Rights and Inclusion of the Generalitat de Catalunya has launched a new call for the Social Care Benefit for People with Disabilities (PUA), allocating 6.9 million euros. These subsidies are intended to cover expenses for acquiring products and implementing actions to improve the quality of life, mobility, and social integration of individuals with intellectual, physical, or sensory disabilities.

Applications can be submitted from August 25 to October 2, either in person or online. To qualify, applicants must have a recognized disability of 33% or higher and meet specific income requirements. The funding covers technical or mobility material acquired during 2024, 2025, and 2026.

In Mataró, these efforts align with the city’s “Caregiver City” strategy. This model integrates health, social services, urbanism, and technology to support citizens throughout their life cycle. Central to this initiative is the Mataró Care City Lab, an innovation hub funded by European funds that brings together administrations, the healthcare system, universities, and social entities to develop models for active aging and support for those in situations of fragility or dependency.
