Catalonia allocates aid for agriculture and flood recovery

The Catalonia Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food has announced 2.3 million euros in extraordinary aid to support the beekeeping and rabbit farming sectors. The funding aims to compensate for lost productivity caused by rising costs of energy, fuel, labor, and raw materials. The allocation includes 1.5 million euros for beekeepers and 800,000 euros for rabbit producers. Applications can be submitted electronically from October 10 to 26.

In the beekeeping sector, professional transhumant beekeepers may receive up to 16 euros per hive, while others can receive up to 10 euros per hive, provided they maintain a minimum of 50 hives. For rabbit farming, producers with at least 15 breeding females can apply for an aid amount of approximately 8 euros per animal.

Separately, the Department of Agriculture is assessing damage caused by recent heavy rains in the Baix Ebre and Montsià regions. Officials are evaluating impacts on fields, roads, and infrastructure to establish a new line of aid for affected farmers. Emergency works have already been conducted by Forestal Catalana to repair access roads and clear debris in municipalities such as Xerta, Ulldecona, and Tortosa.
