Catalonia advances major construction and heritage renovation projects

The Superior Council of Spanish Architects (CSCAE) held its plenary meeting at Fischer's innovation space in Sant Cugat del Vallès, highlighting collaboration between architects, industry and public bodies. CSCAE president Marta Vall‑llossera said, "Housing, building stock rehabilitation, sustainability, energy efficiency and digital transformation are areas where collaboration between architecture and industry is increasingly necessary." Fischer Iberia director José Luis Massana added, "It is an honour to host the CSCAE at Fischer Xperience… the great challenges of housing, sustainability and the built environment can only be tackled through collaboration."

The Catalan government published a tender for the design of the rehabilitation of the Pont del Segre bridge in Aitona, allocating €150,216 (plus VAT). Local mayor Rosa Pujol welcomed the step, stating the publication confirms the government's commitment to the project, which will improve safety, capacity and mobility for the region.

Separately, the Generalitat selected a winning design for the refurbishment of the historic Palau de Pedralbes. The project, awarded to studios F87 and Brullet de Luna, will add a second main entrance, two new patios, a welcome garden and extensive interior reorganisation to enhance light, accessibility and sustainability. The total renovation cost is €28 million, with works slated to begin in 2028 and last about two years.
