Catalonia civil service exam draws 16,000 candidates for 1,325 posts

On Saturday, June 27, the Generalitat de Catalunya held exams to fill 1,325 civil‑service positions across administrative, auxiliary and technical grades. About 16,000 applicants registered for the tests, a record high for the year, with a competition ratio of roughly 12 candidates per vacancy.

The exams began 40 minutes later than scheduled after a delivery‑truck mishap delayed the distribution of test papers in a Barcelona venue. Officials said the law requires all sites to start simultaneously, prompting the postponement. Despite the delay, the testing proceeded without further issues. Attendance averaged 73.8%; Lleida province recorded the highest turnout at 78.9%.

The recruitment drive aims to replace retirees and strengthen public services, especially in citizen assistance, digitalisation and processing functions. Candidates must present identification and their registration form on the day of the exam.
