Catalonia expands educational and language initiatives

Various educational and social initiatives are being implemented in Catalonia to support language integration and environmental awareness.

In the Vallès Occidental Sud region, the offer of Catalan welcome courses is expanding through coordination with local entities. For the 2026-2027 academic year, at least five entities will provide 17 courses across municipalities including Cerdanyola, Ripollet, Montcada, Barberà, Badia, and Sant Cugat. New subsidies from the Generalitat allow decentralized municipal entities, religious organizations, and professional colleges to organize these adult courses to meet demand and foster social language use.

In the Garrotxa region of Girona, the Observatori del Paisatge de Catalunya has engaged 762 secondary and high school students in an environmental education project. Since 2024, the initiative has involved 31 class groups through workshops designed to teach students about the value of their landscape and the importance of active, responsible roles in its conservation and transformation.
