Catalonia fashion sector sees growth in innovation and management

The fashion and leather sector in Catalonia is undergoing a transformation toward a model that integrates design, production, distribution, technology, and innovation. According to a report by the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda de Catalunya (CCAM), the region hosts 411 production companies, 365 brands, and 177 retail companies.

Large brands dominate the industry, accounting for 81% of total turnover with sales exceeding 14.2 billion euros, and representing 83% of employment with over 60,000 professionals. The sector is also seeing a rise in technology-driven business models, with Catalonia reporting 79 fashion and leather-related startups in 2025, marking an 8% increase since 2022.

Barcelona has established itself as an international hub for specialized fashion talent, supported by an ecosystem of established brands, startups, and educational institutions. Business schools, such as GBSB Global Business School, are increasingly offering specialized training in strategic management, digital innovation, and branding to meet the evolving demands of the luxury and fashion industries.
