A forest fire that broke out on Saturday in the municipality of Vall d'Uixó, Castellón province, has rapidly expanded. Initial estimates placed the burned area at about 4,300 hectares, but later assessments recorded roughly 6,500 hectares and a perimeter of around 48 km. The blaze forced the evacuation of approximately 16,000 residents from 18 municipalities and placed about 64,000 people under confinement in Vall d'Uixó, Betxí and Onda.

More than 400 firefighters, the Unidad Militar de Emergencias, and about 25 aerial units (helicopters, planes and drones) have been deployed. President of the Generalitat, Juanfran Pérez Llorca, declared the fire initially out of control, but later officials, including Conseller de Emergencias Juan Carlos Valderrama and sub‑inspector Antonio Rodrigo, said the fire was now within the capacity of extinction and could be stabilised in the coming days as humidity rises.

Health authorities reported 43 individuals needing medical attention, with 19 remaining hospitalized for smoke‑inhalation. Local officials issued advisories to keep windows closed and limit outdoor activity. The situation has also drawn personal attention, with local influencer Violeta Mangriñán sharing that her mother volunteered on the front lines.
