Catalonia Government allocates €1.5 million and staff to foreign regularization

The Catalan Government announced an additional €1.5 million to strengthen the extraordinary regularisation process for foreign residents in the region. The funding includes a €1 million addendum to a contract with local entities to expand legal‑orientation teams and reinforce services such as vulnerability reports and registration procedures, plus roughly €500,000 in subsidies for social organisations under the 2026 call.

Six temporary staff members have been hired for six months, with the possibility of a three‑month extension, to carry out specific tasks linked to the regularisation plan. An inter‑departmental working group, comprising representatives from the Presidency, Social Rights, Equality, Labour, European Union, Foreign Action, Education, Health and Linguistic Policy, coordinates the measures, defines common criteria and monitors implementation. Training sessions have exceeded the original target, delivering 43 sessions to 4,276 public‑administration and social‑entity professionals across Catalonia’s vegueries.
