Spain faces widespread social unrest over housing, labor, and agriculture

Spain is experiencing widespread social unrest across various sectors. In Madrid, the eviction of 87-year-old Maricarmen has sparked massive protests in Barcelona, Valencia, and Tenerife, with tenant unions issuing an ultimatum to the central government to approve a housing decree or face a general strike.

In Catalonia, the Unió de Pagesos agricultural union has called for a large-scale protest in Barcelona on October 14 to address the unsustainable costs facing the farming sector. Meanwhile, a group of citizens has organized a march in Barcelona for October 3 regarding migration policies.

Labor tensions are also rising in other areas. Metro Bilbao security guards are protesting for better safety and working conditions due to increased assaults. In the Basque Country, healthcare workers (Osakidetza) have begun mobilizations demanding improved labor rights and urgent solutions to staffing and wage issues.

Additionally, Sociedad Civil Española has organized a march in Madrid to demand general elections, citing an unsustainable political situation.
