Catalonia implements public transport reforms and funding agreements
Regional authorities in Catalonia are implementing new measures to improve and fund public transport services in different areas.
In Pallars Jussà, the Department of Territory has presented a roadmap to modernize local mobility. The plan includes a significant budget increase, with the Generalitat's investment rising from approximately 1.2 million euros to an additional 1.4 million euros annually. Key initiatives include consolidating the Tremp-El Pont de Suert bus line and digitizing the Demand-Responsive Transport (TAD) network through the Clic.cat application to allow for remote booking.
In the Tarragona region, the city councils of Tarragona and La Canonja have reached an agreement regarding the financing of the L3 and L30 bus lines. To ensure a sustainable and proportional system, costs will be distributed based on the 'user-kilometer' metric. Under this model, La Canonja will cover 70% of the estimated annual cost of 1,612,341.62 euros, while Tarragona will cover the remaining 30%, reflecting the actual usage patterns of the service.
