Catalonia marks Marxa de la Llibertat 50th anniversary and Diada

Various commemorative events are taking place to mark the 50th anniversary of the Marxa de la Llibertat and the Diada. A significant walk between l'Espluga de Francolí and the Santa Maria de Poblet monastery is scheduled for September 12 to honor the historical mobilization that demanded freedoms following the Franco regime.

Unlike previous years, permission has been granted to hold acts within the monastic precinct. The program includes an exhibition titled ‘Marxa de la Llibertat, 50 anys (1976 – 2026)’, a documentary screening, and musical performances. Expected attendees include leaders from Òmnium Cultural and the Assemblea Nacional Catalana (ANC).

In Barcelona, the Diada celebrations will culminate with free concerts organized by Òmnium Cultural at Passeig de Lluís Companys. The musical lineup features DJ Trapella, the Valencian group La Gossa Sorda, and DJ K-Z. Additionally, the MerCat fair will host approximately one hundred entities and businesses dedicated to the promotion of Catalan language and culture.
