Catalonia minister Silvia Paneque commits to AP‑7 widening and C‑28 tunnel works
Silvia Paneque, Catalonia’s minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, said the AP‑7 highway must be expanded with an extra lane in the Terres de l’Ebre and a fourth lane in the Vallès‑Penedès corridor, while truck traffic will be regulated pending an interior‑department study on accident reduction. She added that the expansion plan will be communicated to the public and include unprecedented environmental compensations.
Paneque also pledged that the port of the Bonaigua will remain open during repairs on the C‑28 road after a landslide, and announced a 2026 tender for the preliminary study of a tunnel linking Pallars Sobirà. The regional government will invest €35.3 million in the Alt Pirineu and Aran, allocating €18 million to road maintenance, €2.18 million to the Lleida‑La Pobla de Segur railway line, €8.94 million to sustainable mountain tourism, and funds for natural‑environment protection, housing and the purchase of Llavorsí’s municipal electricity distributor.
