Catalonia opens recruitment for 300 new firefighters

The Generalitat de Catalunya has opened a new recruitment process to hire 300 professionals for the Fire Department. Applications can be submitted electronically via the Tràmits Gencat platform until September 29.

As part of the ‘Pla Bombers 2030’, the government aims to reach a total workforce of 4,000 personnel to strengthen response capacities against increasingly complex emergencies. The recruitment process includes four phases: an examination, a competition, a selective course at the Institut de Seguretat Pública de Catalunya (ISPC), and practical training.

To promote gender diversity, 40% of the available positions are reserved for women. This measure follows previous initiatives that have seen female representation in the department rise from 3% to 8.9%.
