Catalonia police break up jewelry robbery ring and motorcycle theft network

The Mossos d'Esquadra arrested three men aged 18 to 20 suspected of carrying out a series of violent robberies in the coastal towns of Pineda de Mar, Lloret de Mar and Blanes. The suspects, two on scooters and a third providing a getaway vehicle, targeted elderly victims, stealing gold chains and pendants. Police recovered jewellery, a scooter and clothing matching witness descriptions, and the three detainees were placed before a judge. A related investigation linked two of the men to another robbery in Sant Pol de Mar.

In a separate operation, the same police force dismantled a specialised motorcycle‑theft gang operating in the Barcelona metropolitan area. Two men, aged 31 and 43, were detained in Granollers and a third suspect remains under a warrant. The group stole 16 motorcycles worth about €104,000 over three months, selecting vehicles at night, disabling their geolocation systems and transporting them in a rented van to hidden farms in Vilafranca del Penedès and the Roca del Vallès before returning many to their owners. The suspects now face judicial proceedings.
