Catalonia President Salvador Illa Launches Investment Tour of Vietnam and Singapore

Catalan President Salvador Illa began a week‑long diplomatic-economic mission to Vietnam and Singapore on 25 July, aiming to attract productive investment and improve air links between Catalonia and Southeast Asia. Over seven days he will visit Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore, meeting the Vietnamese vice‑prime minister Pham Gia Tuc and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, as well as senior executives of Catalan firms operating in the region.

The trip seeks to position Catalonia as a gateway to Europe for Asian investors, promote direct flights – particularly with Vietnam Airlines and Singapore Airlines – and showcase Catalan companies such as Savall Chocolate, Relats, Tucalina, Simon and Eurofragance. A business forum titled “Catalonia” is scheduled for 27 July in Da Nang, followed by an investment‑focused event in Singapore.

The initiative is part of the Generalitat's “Asia Strategy” for 2025‑2030, which prioritises Vietnam and Singapore as key markets for export growth, technological collaboration and diversification of trade routes.
