Catalonia protests 110‑million C‑32 highway extension, calls for minister's resignation
The environmental groups SOS Costa Brava and Aturem C‑32 have demanded the immediate withdrawal of the planned 110 million‑euro extension of the C‑32 highway between Blanes and Lloret de Mar. They also called for the resignation of the Catalan Minister of Territory, Housing and Ecological Transition, Silvia Paneque, arguing that the project is incompatible with climate‑change goals and diverts funds from public transport.
The groups note that previous attempts to halt the extension were successful, with the Catalan Supreme Court declaring the project null and a popular consultation rejecting it. They propose redirecting the budget to a train‑tram line linking Palafolls, Blanes and Lloret, which they say would improve mobility, reduce traffic and cut CO₂ emissions.
