Catalonia implements bus service expansions and housing milestones

The Catalan government is implementing several measures to improve regional infrastructure and public services. As part of a 21.5 million euro investment plan to mitigate issues with the Rodalies rail network, the Department of Territory, Housing, and Ecological Transition is reinforcing interurban bus lines. Key updates include the expansion of the e3 line connecting Barcelona, Cerdanyola del Vallès, and the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) with 60 new daily trips, and the extension of the L76 line in Torrelles de Llobregat to improve access to the Hospital General de Sant Boi.

In housing policy, Minister Sílvia Paneque reported that 10,000 homes from the government’s 50,000-unit public housing plan are now complete, representing 20% of the target. The administration aims to reach a 15% public housing threshold to ensure long-term affordability. Additionally, the government is addressing discrepancies in rail punctuality data and working to improve intermodality between bus and train services.
