Catalonia storms disrupt rail services and cause power outages
Severe storms and heavy rainfall in Catalonia have caused significant disruptions to transportation and utility services. In the rail network, circulation has been cut between Sant Vicenç de Calders and Tarragona, affecting six lines including the R14, R15, R16, R17, RT1, and RT2. Additionally, signaling issues between Vilanova i la Geltrú and Sitges have caused delays on the R2 Sud line. In Barcelona, metro services have faced interruptions, including a lack of service between Aeroport T1 and Cèntric on the L9 Sud line.
In Barcelona, approximately 2,500 residents remain without electricity following the storms. The most affected areas include the Gràcia district, with 500 users without power, as well as Nou Barris, Les Corts, and Horta-Guinardó. Deputy Mayor Laia Bonet stated that the City Council is considering sanctions against the distribution company if the resolution of these outages is not handled with sufficient diligence. The number of affected users has decreased from over 5,000 in the previous 24 hours to the current 2,500.
