Catalonia summer arts festivals emphasize public participation
The TNT Festival in Terrassa will hold its 19th edition from 24 to 26 September, presenting 18 projects, five premieres and a new free‑programming line called “TNT a les places” that turns city squares into open‑air stages. Festival director Marion Betriu said the initiative uses play as resistance to “present‑day apathy” and seeks to broaden audiences and strengthen ties with citizens.
Meanwhile, Tarragona’s fourth edition of the En Dansa cycle took place at the restored resclosa of Sant Salvador, a site revived by the Tarragona Greenbelt project. Organized by the city’s Culture Department and guided by the ecological association GATA, the free 80‑minute walks combined nature discovery with contemporary dance. GATA president Lluís Gurrera highlighted the ecological restoration of the Francolí riverbank. Performances included Helena Cans and Olga Lladó’s “Koshas” on 29 July and Paula Sánchez and Matilde Casini’s “Willkommen” on 5 August.
