Catalonia to replace La Meva Salut passwords with idCAT Mòbil

The Generalitat de Catalunya will progressively phase out password access for the La Meva Salut digital health portal, transitioning to idCAT Mòbil as the sole authentication method. While both systems will coexist until January 2027, users will no longer be able to generate new passwords after September 15.

Existing passwords will remain operational until they expire. The idCAT Mòbil system requires a user's identity document, a mobile phone number, and health card data to send a single-use code for verification. The Department of Health stated this change aims to improve security, agility, and simplicity while complying with EU data protection regulations, particularly following credential theft incidents in 2024.

Some political representatives have expressed concerns regarding the impact on elderly populations, people with disabilities, or those with limited digital skills. In response, health officials have pledged to conduct an information campaign to ensure no users are left behind during the transition.
