Catalonia towns El Morell and Mollerussa launch public‑space upgrades
The municipality of El Morell has begun a five‑month renovation of the western sector of Maria Mercè Marçal park, investing close to €600,000 to create a greener, more accessible and comfortable space for families. The plan includes new inclusive playground equipment, sand and water areas, elastic beds, balance circuits, redesigned lighting, drainage and accessibility improvements, as well as additional trees, shade structures, benches, picnic tables and a drinking‑water fountain.
In Mollerussa, the city council is preparing a €12.5 million urban‑social transformation proposal for the Catalan regional “Pla de Barris”. Key elements are the restoration of the historic Cal Duch building into a cultural hub, the rehabilitation of 41 apartments, the addition of 8,000 m² of green areas, climate‑refuge shelters and 2,500 m of bike lanes. The scheme aims to benefit roughly 4,300 residents, improve up to 120 homes and fund 70 % of costs through regional subsidies.
