Catalonia Transport Minister Sílvia Paneque Announces €89 million Tram Project and €11 million Rail Station Upgrade

Catalonia’s Minister of Territory, Sílvia Paneque, inspected the ongoing renovation of the Molins de Rei railway station. The project, funded with €11.2 million, adds a second entrance, a new underground passage and extends the tracks by 200 metres to improve accessibility. The 16‑month work is scheduled to be completed by late summer 2027.

Paneque also presented the region’s 2024 territorial budget, earmarking €89.38 million for the first phase of the TramCamp project linking Tarragona, Reus, Vila‑seca, La Canonja and Reus airport. The tram system will span 46 km, feature 47 stations and serve about 325 000 residents. The overall tram programme is valued at €245 million. In total, 74 % of the territorial investment goes to public‑transport projects, 16 % to road infrastructure, with additional funds for water‑cycle works and logistics sites.
