Catalonia weather alert: Authorities warn of torrential rain

Protecció Civil and Meteocat have issued warnings for Catalonia, advising citizens to limit travel and monitor weather updates closely due to the risk of intense or torrential rainfall.

The Inuncat emergency plan is currently in an alert phase. Authorities recommend using main roads and avoiding low-lying areas, gullies, and riverbanks. There is a possibility of an ES-Alert being issued if a direct danger to citizens is detected.

Meteocat reports that rainfall intensity could exceed 40 liters per square meter in 30 minutes or 90 liters within three hours in certain areas. High-risk zones include the coastal and pre-coastal regions between Camp de Tarragona and Barcelona, specifically Penedès, Garraf, Baix Llobregat, Tarragonès, Vallès, and Barcelonès. Intense showers are also expected in the interior of Girona and parts of Central Catalonia near the eastern Pyrenees and Pre-Pyrenees.
