Catalonia's High Court upholds Badalona's eviction of B9 institute
The Tribunal Superior de Justicia de Cataluña (TSJC) has confirmed the legality of Badalona City Hall's eviction of the former B9 institute, which housed around 250 people, in December 2025. The court dismissed the appeal filed by the former occupants, stating that the procedure complied with the law and took into account the social vulnerability of those affected. It deemed the judicial authorization for entry a necessary, appropriate and proportional measure to recover municipal property and activate protocols for vulnerable residents.
Mayor Xavier García Albiol welcomed the ruling, saying, "This judicial endorsement confirms that the City Council acts with rigor to ensure safety and coexistence." The decision adds to previous judgments supporting the municipal government's actions.
