Catalonia's New Industrial Pact Boosts Lleida Agro‑Food Sector

The Catalan government unveiled the National Industrial Pact for 2026‑2030, presented by Conseller of Enterprise and Labour Miquel Sàmper on 3 July. The plan earmarks €5 billion in investment and 190 measures across Catalonia, with a focus on transforming the industrial landscape of Lleida. Key allocations for the agro‑food sector include €44 million for modernising and expanding production capacity, €37 million for shifting to more sustainable models, €53 million to enhance competitiveness and industrial processes, and €316 million to strengthen cooperatives. The pact also promotes biogas generation through the Catalan Biogas Strategy and other renewable initiatives. Attendees included regional delegate Núria Gil, industry directors Xavier Roca, Jordi Candela, Anna Camp and Laura Ruana. Objectives are to raise productivity, close the technological gap, advance decarbonisation, and improve industrial resilience and strategic supply security.
