Catamarca authorities investigate man for dachshund abuse

Authorities in San Fernando del Valle de Catamarca have launched a judicial investigation into a man accused of animal cruelty after video footage surfaced showing him choking and kicking a dachshund.

The incident was recorded by witnesses at Parque Adán Quiroga and subsequently circulated on social media via the organization ‘Patitas Callejeras - Catamarca’. The footage depicts the man lifting the dog by its leash, leaving it suspended in the air, before throwing it to the ground and kicking it.

Following a formal complaint filed with Judicial Unit No. 7, Prosecutor Juan Manuel Sánchez Ruiz ordered an investigation. Police conducted a raid on a residence in the Marcos Avellaneda neighborhood, where the dog was successfully rescued. The animal was taken to a veterinarian for a health assessment and has been placed under the care of an animal protection organization.
