Catamarca health authorities monitor measles exposure

The Ministry of Health of Catamarca has confirmed a positive case of measles, prompting epidemiological surveillance for two individuals who had close contact with the infected person. The contacts, who shared an international flight with the positive case, are currently in good health; one is fully vaccinated while the other remains under investigation.

Health authorities have issued recommendations for citizens to seek immediate medical attention if they experience fever or red skin spots, particularly if they have a history of recent travel. The vaccine remains free and available at all provincial vaccination centers.

In response to the current epidemiological context in several American countries, the vaccination schedule will change starting in 2026. The second dose of the measles vaccine will then be administered at 18 months of age to ensure earlier and more effective protection. Children born before June 30, 2024, will complete their current schedule with the second dose during the year they turn five.
