Catamarca pensioners to march against PAMI and for social rights

Pensioner organizations in Catamarca, Argentina, have scheduled a march for Wednesday, August 19, as part of a National Day of Struggle. Protesters plan to march from Plaza 25 de Mayo to the PAMI offices to present several demands.

The demonstrators are seeking an emergency increase in pensions, the immediate restitution of free medications, and the passage of a new pension moratorium law. They are also calling for an end to the intervention of PAMI and ANSES, demanding greater participation and control by retirees and workers.

Additional grievances include opposition to utility rate increases, the elimination of the medical surcharge, and the protection of resources intended for retirees. The mobilization is part of a broader national movement that includes activities in Buenos Aires, where protesters will march toward the National Ministry of Health.
