Catania completes recovery of unfinished Librino housing tower

Work is nearing completion on the recovery and completion of the San Teodoro viale tower in the Librino district of Catania. The building, an economic and popular housing structure, had remained unfinished for over 25 years.

The project, funded by the 2014/2020 Cohesion Development Fund with a total of approximately 6.26 million euros, aims to return the property of the Istituto Autonomo Case Popolari di Catania to residential use. The building consists of 72 housing units distributed across twelve residential floors, situated above four basement levels intended for parking, shops, commercial activities, and offices.

Mayor Enrico Trantino conducted a site inspection to verify the progress and quality of the apartments. The intervention is part of a broader urban regeneration process for the Librino neighborhood, intended to transform abandoned structures into social and residential opportunities.
