Fabio Grosso appointed Fiorentina head coach ahead of centenary season
Fiorentina introduced Fabio Grosso as its new head coach at a ceremony in the club’s “Viola Park”. The appointment was announced by director general Alessandro Ferrari, who highlighted the significance of the club’s centenary season and described Grosso as a shared choice of the Commisso family and the board.
Grosso thanked his former club Sassuolo for two successful years and spoke of the challenges and ambition in Florence, saying he wants to “build something big” and make Fiorentina “competitive and durable”. He referenced his varied coaching background – from Juventus youth to stints at Bari, Verona, Brescia, Sion, Frosinone and a brief spell in Lyon that ended with an injury after a fan attack – and emphasized the importance of creating strong relationships within the squad. In a later interview he expressed optimism about recent signings such as Atta and the potential impact of players like Moise Kean, underscoring the goal of constructing a lasting, competitive team.
