Catania FC reacquires historical club crest for €250,000
Catania FC has successfully reacquired its historic “Elefantino” crest through an insolvency auction. The club, led by President Rosario Pelligra, won the bidding process with an offer of €250,000, competing against Revolution Group Srl.
The total investment is expected to exceed €335,000 once VAT, auction fees, and registration costs are included. The iconic emblem features the city’s legendary elephant behind a red-and-blue shield with the text “CALCIO CATANIA” and a classic leather football.
Following the club's financial collapse and exclusion from Serie C in 2022, the team had been using a modern, stylized substitute. This acquisition allows the club to return to its original identity and reclaim its historical heritage. The finalization of the purchase requires completing several bureaucratic steps, including the payment of the winning bid within 15 days and the signing of the contract within two weeks of receiving official communication.
