Catania football club targets striker and midfielder in transfer window

Catania is restructuring its squad ahead of the Serie C transfer window by first reducing the payroll and releasing players whose contracts have ended. Director of football Fortunato Varrà is guiding the effort to balance ambition with financial sustainability before making major acquisitions.

The club’s immediate priority is strengthening the attack to chase direct promotion after missing out last season. Reported targets include Guido Gomez, the 24‑year‑old Crotone striker who scored 18 goals in 38 games, and Andrea Rizzo Pinna, the ex‑Palermo midfielder who helped Ascoli win promotion to Serie B. Catania hopes to secure one or both players as it builds a more competitive roster.
