Catania launches new app feature for real‑time sea conditions

The municipality of Catania has added a "How is the sea today?" section to its official mobile app. The feature lets residents and tourists select any local beach and view up‑to‑date marine weather data, including water temperature, wave height, sea state, wind direction and strength, currents, tides, UV index and sunrise‑sunset times.

The app also integrates the latest water‑quality results from the national Water Portal of the Ministry of Health, and provides information on beach facilities such as showers, rest areas, Wi‑Fi and accessibility services. Users can obtain turn‑by‑turn directions to the chosen shoreline via the app’s integrated navigation. The update is available for free on Apple and Android stores.
