Catania man arrested after high‑speed chase on A19 highway

Police from the Palermo Mobile Squad arrested a 40‑year‑old man from Catania after a high‑speed pursuit on the A19 motorway near Buonfornello. The suspect, initially stopped for erratic driving, fled when ordered to pull over, prompting a chase that ended when his Fiat Panda was blocked by a police vehicle.

During the arrest officers recovered a sealed package containing valuable jewellery and watches linked to a recent fraud against an elderly resident of Palermo. The suspect now faces charges of resistance to a public official, damage to public property and fraud, while the recovered items have been returned to their owners.
