Catania Police Arrest 55-Year-Old Who Threw Cocaine Out Window
Carabinieri from the investigative unit of the Catania provincial command arrested a 55‑year‑old resident during a planned raid in the San Cristoforo neighbourhood. Investigators had been monitoring the suspect’s home after gathering evidence that large amounts of cocaine and crack were being stored for local drug trafficking.
When the police moved in, the man attempted to discard the drugs by throwing a bag from a window into the courtyard. Officers had anticipated the move and retrieved the bag, finding six vacuum‑sealed packages containing 68 g of cocaine‑crack and an additional 24 g of “cocaine in stone.” He was taken into custody for possession with intent to distribute, placed under electronic monitoring at home, and remains innocent until a final judgment.
The operation highlights the continued focus of the Catania Carabinieri on dismantling local drug markets through detailed intelligence and coordinated actions.
