Ramacca: 68-year-old reported for poisoning stray cats
Authorities in Ramacca have reported a 68-year-old man for the suspected poisoning of several stray cats. The investigation began following numerous reports from local residents near Viale Libertà, who observed several cats in distress.
Carabinieri investigators, working alongside the Municipal Police and the ASP of Catania, exhumed and seized the carcasses of four cats. Necropsy examinations conducted at the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale di Catania confirmed that the animals had been poisoned.
Witness testimonies suggested the man was seen throwing cats over a courtyard fence, and investigations noted previous tensions regarding the feeding of the local feline colony. A subsequent search of the suspect's home led to the seizure of snail poison and poisoned rat bait. The individual has been reported to the judicial authorities for animal cruelty and animal killing.
