Catania police officer injured in stone attack during illegal parking crackdown

A local police officer in Catania was struck in the face with a stone while intervening against an illegal parker, sustaining serious injuries. The assailant was subsequently detained and placed under compulsory health treatment while authorities continue their investigation.

The Futuro Nazionale Catania 68 committee expressed solidarity with the injured officer and his family, calling the incident “exceptionally grave.” It urged the Prefect of Catania to launch a coordinated territorial control plan targeting illegal parking, emphasizing the need for enhanced safety measures for local police personnel.

The committee also highlighted the broader problem of illegal parking in the city, describing it as a persistent threat to public order and urban safety that can escalate into violent confrontations.
