Catania police seize counterfeit license plates and signal jammers

Police in Catania have uncovered a criminal operation involving the production and use of counterfeit license plates designed to make stolen vehicles ‘invisible’ to law enforcement. During a raid on a hideout in the San Cristoforo district, the Squadra Mobile seized 78 counterfeit plates hidden in a wall cavity. These plates were intended for use on stolen vans to bypass road checks.

In addition to the plates, authorities seized a powerful 16-antenna jammer capable of disabling GPS and vehicle alarms. The operation has resulted in charges of money laundering, as investigators work to determine how these tools are used to facilitate robberies and property crimes.
