Catania politicians demand transparency for Corso dei Martiri masterplan

The Mpa-Grande Catania political group is calling for transparency and institutional guarantees regarding the new masterplan for the Corso dei Martiri della Libertà. While acknowledging the project as a significant opportunity for the urban, economic, and touristic revitalization of Catania, representatives are demanding clarity on several key issues.

Group leaders Bruno Brucchieri and Pina Alberghina have emphasized the need for public insight into whether the plan aligns with the 2012 convention and what administrative changes are required. Concerns were raised regarding the involvement of a new architect, which suggests a deeper revision than mere technical adjustments.

Specific demands include clear financial and executive guarantees to prevent the project from becoming another unfinished work. Additionally, the group is seeking assurances that public areas, green spaces, and urban services promised in original agreements will be preserved and not reduced during the redevelopment process.
