Catania Rete Gas begins gas network upgrades in Catania
Catania Rete Gas has commenced excavation work on viale Ruggero di Lauria in Catania to install a new medium-pressure gas pipeline. The project focuses on the seaside side of the boulevard, specifically the stretch between house number 115 and Piazza Leonardo Sciascia.
The initiative involves replacing the existing steel pipeline, currently located at a depth of approximately one meter, with a high-resistance polyethylene infrastructure. According to Christian Todaro, the works director, the project aims to move the pipeline several meters inland to improve coastal resilience following the impact of Cyclone Harry.
President Gianfranco Todaro stated that the intervention is a programmed investment designed to ensure a more efficient, safe, and reliable service. The works are expected to last several months, with measures being taken to minimize disruption to local residents and traffic.
