Catania to host “Bellini alla Norma” musical and culinary performance

The Fondazione Taormina Arte Sicilia will present “Bellini alla Norma – Un concerto da gustare” on September 20 at the Teatro Sangiorgi in Catania. Part of the sixth edition of the Bellini International Context, the production explores the intersection of classical music and gastronomy.

The performance features pianist Danilo Rea, who bridges lyrical music and jazz, and actor Cesare Bocci, who serves as a narrator. The program examines the role of food in opera librettos and the personal culinary passions of composers, such as Gioachino Rossini. The journey concludes with the connection between composer Vincenzo Bellini and the famous Italian dish, pasta alla Norma.

Directed by Simona Celi, the production aims to unite two UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritages: Italian operatic singing and Italian cuisine.
