Catanzaro medical investigation targets undeclared private practices
The Catanzaro Prosecutor's Office has concluded an investigation involving ten medical professionals from the Provincial Health Authority (Asp), the Renato Dulbecco University Hospital, and private facilities. The investigation focuses on allegations that certain medical directors performed private professional activities without notifying their public employers, while simultaneously receiving public allowances related to exclusivity contracts.
In some instances, the services were allegedly covered by tax documentation registered under other professionals. The investigation concerns approximately 175,000 euros in public indemnities. While the investigation has reached the stage of closing inquiries, the individuals involved are presumed innocent until a final judicial sentence is reached.
Bruno Schipano, general secretary of FP CGIL Calabria, has commented on the situation, emphasizing the need to respect constitutional guarantees and the presumption of innocence while following the work of the judiciary and law enforcement.
