Catanzaro hosts exhibition honoring artist Mimmo Rotella

The city of Catanzaro is hosting an exhibition to honor the life and work of Mimmo Rotella, marking 20 years since his death. Organized by the Municipality of Catanzaro in collaboration with the Mimmo Rotella Foundation, the exhibition is held at the San Giovanni Monumental Complex.

The showcase features 25 large-scale works across eight rooms, designed to create an immersive experience for viewers. Notable pieces include ‘Pan Am del 1986’, a five-meter overpainted canvas, and various ‘décollage’ works on sheet metal such as ‘Matrix’ and ‘Shaolin’. The collection also includes western-themed works like ‘Fort Apache’ and ‘L’ultima vendetta’, as well as ‘Ikarus’, a three-meter piece inspired by the myth of flight.

Mayor Nicola Fiorita noted that the event serves to honor an artist who provided original contributions to contemporary art through the invention of the décollage technique.
