Regional authorities in Sicily completed repairs to the Port of Portopalo two months ahead of schedule, restoring full functionality after the January Cyclone Harry. The work, funded with over €1.7 million, involved installing 120 steel micropiles, a reinforced concrete slab and resurfacing the berth. President of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani inspected the site alongside local officials, noting the early completion as a result of coordinated institutional effort.

In nearby Marzamemi, work continues on the Fossa port, with a €500 thousand regional contract aimed at fixing a damaged drainage channel and fuel‑area structures, expected to finish by September. The national Civil Protection Department also approved an intervention plan for Cyclone Harry‑related damage, a move praised by its head, Francesco Mancuso.

In Calabria, the port of Catanzaro received national Civil Protection funding for drag‑away works to clear silt that had blocked fishing vessels for months. The funding, announced by Deputy Minister Wanda Ferro, is intended to restore safe navigation and support the local fishing industry’s summer operations.
