Catanzaro prosecutors investigate Madera murder through digital evidence
The District Anti-Mafia Directorate (DDA) of Catanzaro is investigating the 2019 murder of breeder Francesco Giuseppe Madera in the Bocchigliero area. Investigators are cross-referencing the testimony of collaborator Gianluca Maestri, who admitted involvement and implicated Carmine Dennis Rocca, Renato Salvatore Rossano, and Nicola Abbruzzese, with various digital and physical traces.
Key evidence includes a seven-hour period where a health application on Rocca’s phone recorded no movement on the day of the crime. Additionally, investigators noted a burgundy Ford Fiesta seen twice on the same road and surveillance footage showing Maestri leaving his home in Cosenza and returning on foot the following day. The prosecution considers these findings supportive of the accusations, though they remain subject to judicial verification.
