Catanzaro's Ciro Polito reflects on playoff loss and Serie A prospects

Ciro Polito, sporting director of Serie B club Catanzaro, spoke to media after the team's 2-0 defeat to Monza in the promotion playoff final, which ended their hopes of reaching Serie A. He recounted his past involvement in promotions with other clubs, noting the tension he felt at the final whistle and emphasizing the need to stay "lucid".

Polito said, "When you give your heart and soul you always want more. If a player does well he moves up a division, the coach does too." He expressed gratitude for support received over his career, described himself as an "altruist born" and acknowledged criticism of his demeanor. Looking ahead, Polito announced he will meet the club president next week to discuss his future, adding that interest from other Serie A clubs, such as Lecce, has surfaced.

He concluded that if Catanzaro eventually reaches Serie A, “who could say no?” while stressing the importance of preparation and strategic decisions for the club's next steps.
