Catarroja hosts 54th International Allipebre Contest

The 54th International Allipebre Contest took place in the Port of Catarroja, serving as a central event for the municipality's Sant Miquel festivities. The competition drew approximately 4,000 attendees and featured 150 participants competing with traditional recipes.

To ensure consistency among contestants, the local government provided eels, potatoes, oil, and firewood, while participants contributed their own garlic, paprika, spices, and traditional cooking vessels. Alongside the competition, the Comunitat de Peixcadors de Catarroja prepared 2,000 portions of the dish for public tasting.

Mayor Lorena Silvent highlighted the strength of the tradition, noting that the scale of the 54th edition demonstrates how deeply the culinary heritage remains rooted in the community.
