Catarroja hosts Fiesta de la Siega to celebrate Valencian rice culture

The Fiesta de la Siega, organized by the D. O. Arroz de Valencia in collaboration with the Catarroja City Council, drew more than 4,000 attendees to the port of Catarroja. The event focused on the cultivation, tradition, and culture of Valencian rice.

Activities included manual reaping demonstrations, boat tours of the Albufera to observe local birdlife, children's workshops, and musical performances. Gastronomy played a central role with two showcookings and rice tastings. During the event, chef Vicente Rioja from Benissanó was honored with the 'Segador de Honor 2026' recognition.

Notable attendees included the Director General of Agricultural and Livestock Production, Mª Àngels Ramón-Llin, the Mayor of Catarroja, Lorena Silvent, and the President of the D. O. Arroz de Valencia, Ricardo Císcar.
